Life: On The Rocks offers an unprecedented cinematic exploration of Washington, DC, a city undergoing rapid transformation and its impact on long-time residents. This powerful film delves into Indigenous communities' struggles to adapt amidst waves of urban renewal and gentrification, a phenomenon sweeping the nation. Interweaving the stories of various characters, Life: On The Rocks portrays their fight for survival in a city that is both familiar and foreign, addressing the displacement, protests, pandemics, and other challenges that have reshaped their lives. More than just a story of change, Life: On The Rocks intimately portrays the inner lives of DC residents grappling with the emotional trauma of displacement, compounded by issues of police corruption, family dysfunction, and substance abuse. This film offers a perspective on Washington, DC, which is rarely seen in cinema, music, or theater, finally giving voice to the experiences of those directly impacted by the city's evolving landscape.
